After celebrating their New Year’s holiday, Chinese people celebrate throughout the year many other holidays. We are going to explore three of the traditional Chinese holidays that are not as well known but are significant to the people and their culture. We will find out the origin of the holidays – how they were started, the ceremony or ritual of the holiday – how they are celebrated, and the food that is associated with the holiday – what people eat on each particular holiday. We will compare the similarities among these three holidays and distinguish the uniqueness of each holiday. With the knowledge and understanding of these holidays, we will create a Chinese holiday of our own with some of the common elements and some of the unique elements that we found in all three holidays.
